Further details on session:
The session is designed for people new to bidding or who have limited success. It will walk participants through a variety of funding call proposal forms, online portals and guidelines and will discuss what the questions are asking for, and how best to interpret the guidelines. The session will use examples from major funders (RCUK and Horizon 2020) with complicated structured guidelines. The general themes of this session can be applied to a wider range of opportunities.

During this session, staff will have the opportunity to review guidelines and portals from RCUK and H2020 to gain knowledge in how to answer the question asked and complete the application forms and online submission; what does the funders actually want in the specific sections of the grant proposal? GFU staff will share their experience of unsuccessful bids feedback to ensure pitfalls are avoided.  For those staff that register for the session early, there will be an opportunity for you to request a specific funder application/call is reviewed. (However if you urgently need a specific call reviewed for an application deadline you should contact GFU in the usual way to engage the team directly.)

(i) to be able to decipher what is required within a grant proposal/application;
(ii) to understand what work is required prior to writing the proposal which will then help determine
the time commitment required to deliver a good quality proposal.

Outcomes: Staff will have an understanding of how to interpret the funding guidelines and Call
document for a variety of funders which will then help them to identify how to structure their proposal
project and proposal and the time commitment required to write a good quality proposal.
